26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

September 26-27, 2026

Dear sisters and brothers,

It isn’t how the journey starts; it’s how it ends!

C. S. Lewis, initially a skeptic, found British Christianity lifeless and uninspiring. His analytical nature dismissed its teachings as mere superstition with empty promises. However, as he sank into cynicism, he realized he craved a belief. A fellow traveler reassured him that there was a place for him in Christianity. This gradual transformation led him to become a powerful defender of the faith, engaging critics through writings and popular radio broadcasts.

Similarly, Malcolm Muggeridge, another British thinker, eventually found that Christianity resonated more deeply with him than his agnosticism. Like Lewis, he transitioned from saying “no” to embracing faith.

This weekend’s gospel highlights two brothers: one who initially said “yes” but disobeyed, and another who said “no” but later complied with his father’s wishes.

When it comes to holiness, it isn’t how the journey starts that counts; it’s how it ends.

If you’d like to reflect on which son you resemble the most, we invite you to come and join us in church this weekend.

With prayerful wishes and blessings,

Fr. William Rosario
