Dear sisters and brothers,
“Disciples making disciples” is more than a parish mission statement; it is an invitation to live fully the call we received at Baptism. In the Parable of the Wedding Banquet, Jesus reminds us that God’s invitation is for everyone. Children, youth, adults, and seniors—all are called to belong, participate, and take their place in the life and mission of the Church. Each of us has gifts and experiences that God can use to touch the lives of others. To be a disciple is to receive Christ’s invitation; to make disciples is to extend that invitation to others.
As we reflect on “Invest,” the “I” in “CHRIST”, let us consider how we invest our time, talent, and gifts in our parish. Whether through teaching, singing, serving at the altar, welcoming others, visiting the sick, outreach, or prayer? Every contribution matters. Ministry is not the responsibility of a select few—it is the vocation of the whole baptized community. Every member is a minister, and every act of loving service can help make disciples.
So let us put on our “wedding garment” of ministry and realize our parish goal: Every member becoming a minister. Let us move beyond simply attending our parish to truly belonging, participating, serving, and inviting others to belong. Imagine what God could do through our parish if every member embraced the call to be a disciple who makes disciples!
With prayerful wishes and blessings,
Fr. William Rosario
